Mission Statement

The Church of the Holy Cross, Shreveport, Louisiana, strives to be the presence of Jesus Christ in our community and beyond, through worship of Almighty God, open inquiry, sharing fellowship, valued diversity, genuine inclusiveness and servant leadership--encouraging all to exercise God's gifts and calling as we share the Gospel of Hope, to serve without regard for religious affilliation, race, or economic status.

A Progressive Church in an Historic Building

Our church building was built by St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1905. Holy Cross was founded when St. Mark's moved to a suburban site in 1954. Our urban location offers us many unique opportunities for ministry. The mission of Holy Cross is to serve those in our community who have the most needs and to welcome everyone into our place of worship. From the beginning, we have sought to minister to a diverse population and to work across racial and denominational lines to communicate the Gospel. We try never to forget that Jesus instructed us "Even as you do unto the least of these, you do also unto me."
