The Day of Pentecost  5/23/10
Our second Pentecost Picnic was again a wonderful celebration this year! We welcomed the Holy Spirit with food, music and fellowship, inside and outside. Our Holy Cross Barbecue Chefs outdid themselves with bratworst on the grill, and we had an abundance of potato salad, baked beans and desserts. We will celebrate again in the fall with Oktoberfest, so watch for the date and join us!

The Continuing Feast  7/11/10  (12:15 PM)
On the first Sunday each month, immediately following our 11:00 service, members and guests gather in the Undercroft for The Continuing Feast. The fellowship is lively, and the food is abundant. Holy Cross' tradition of delicious meals is continued in the kitchens of our members today and shared at our pot luck lunch. Several favorite dishes are expected each month. The ECW has compiled a cookbook of valued recipes, and its sale makes possible the ECW's work in our community. Please join us for food and table fellowship!

Inquirers Classes  9/12/10  (10:00 AM - 10:45 PM)
On Sunday, September 12th, we will begin our fall Inquirers Classes. The information we discuss in these classes will prepare all who are interested in becoming members of Holy Cross through the Rite of Confirmation, all who want to know more about our church and all who would like to refresh their memories about the Episcopal Church.

We will explore the Book of Common Prayer and the worship services of our church, the Sacraments and church history. Especially compelling are explanations of the actions performed and the vessels used in the Holy Eucharist.

On November 7th, All Saints' Sunday, Bishop MacPherson will make his visitation to Holy Cross to confirm and receive all who desire these rites, and to preside at the renewal of Baptismal Vows and the Reaffirmation of commitment to the Christian life. The Bishop will also baptize all those who desire to begin their Christian life in this Sacrament.

We welcome all want to be confirmed or received in the Episcopal Church, as well as everyone who would like to refresh their memory or learn more about the Episcopal Church!

HOLY CROSS DAY  9/14/10
Holy Cross Day is the feast of title for the Church of the Holy Cross. Because September 14th falls on a Tuesday this year, we will celebrate the feast day on September 19th.

Holy Cross Day, transferred  9/19/10  (11:00 AM)
This is the day we will celebrate Holy Cross Day, the day for which our parish is named. Our 11:00 Eucharist will be a joyful worship service, and afterwards we will have a real feast. Come join us!

All Saints Sunday  11/07/10
Our Bishop, the Right Reverend Bruce MacPherson, will be with us this year on All Saints Sunday for his annual Visitation. He will confirm and receive those people who desire to be active parishioners of Holy Cross. He will also lead any of us who wish to reaffirm our commitment to the Church, and he will lead all of us in the renewal of our Baptismal Vows. This Sunday will be a true celebration and a good time to remember all those who have gone before us in our faith.

All Saints Day, Novenber 1st, falls on Monday this year, and so we will transfer the feast to the Sunday following, November 7th.

The Fall Festival  11/13/10  (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
The whole community looks forward to our ECW's Fall Festival every year! This is the main fundraiser for the work of the Women of Holy Cross in our community. Very nice household items, costume jewelry and Christmas decorations are offered for sale, as well as home made jellies and preserves and home baked breads and cakes. Only the best! The highlight is lunch of homemade Holy Cross beef vegetable soup and dessert, a tantalizing prelude to our Soup Days during Advent and Lent every year. (See those dates for more information.)Added to all the fun and good food is fellowship with people we may see only at these special times every year!

Soup Day, Advent, 2010  12/01/10  (11:30 AM - 1:30 PM)
Among our oldest traditions at Holy Cross are our Soup Days in the Undercroft on Wednesdays of Advent and Lent every year. Homemade beef vegetable soup, crackers, beverage and homemade dessert are served for a price not to be duplicated anywhere: $3.00/person! The fellowship we enjoy is well worth many times the price of admission; some people from around the community have been meeting here for lunch and conversation for years! We encourage you to come and join the good time and the good meal -- and bring your friends! All proceeds go to support the work of the Women of Holy Cross in our community.
